Common name: European Wasp, German Wasp, or German Yellowjacket.
Syn. Vespa macularis.

It is responsible for the majority of stings registered in the city. Its nest can be hypogeum, usually in the countryside, or epigean, prevalent in the city. The dimensions of this range from 30-50 cm, with exceptions of 70-80 cm. The danger of V. germanica, superior to that of all the other species, springs from its greater numerical presence, from the frenetic temperament and from the considerable width of the explored surface.
