The Sugilite (also known as Luvulite or Lavulite) is part of ciclosilicati and is a relatively rare and valuable mineral belonging to the group of milarite. Variable assumes color from pink to violet - purple and has a complex chemical formula.
The sugilite was described for the first time in 1944 by the Japanese petrologist Ken-ichi Sugi (1901-1948) that the unearthed islet of Iwagi, in Japan , in various conglomerates intrusive egirina and syenite. They are known only 10 places in the world where you can find the sugilite: these include the Liguria and Tuscany (Italy), Mons Sant'Ilaria in Quebec (Canada), the Wessels mine in the Northern Cape (South Africa) which is extracted from an ore of manganese, New South Wales in Australia , Madhya Pradesh in India , the island of Shikoku in Japan.
It is rarely found in nature in crystalline form, it can be found most often in the form discrete masses, and translucent, more or less concretions, of pegmatite.
