Ametrine is a bicolor quartz variety that combines the colors of amethyst (purple) and citrine (yellow/orange) in a single gemstone.
It is a rare gemstone in nature and is formed by a temperature variation during its crystalline growth, which causes different oxidations of the iron present.
Its name comes from the fusion of the names of the two minerals that compose it.
The main known natural deposit is found in Bolivia, in the Anahi mine.
It is highly prized in jewelry for its unique color contrast.
