Happy Birthday, Pluto!Today marks the anniversary of the discovery of Pluto, which took place February 18, 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh and initially classified as the ninth planet in the solar system. It has long been hypothesized the existence of a ninth planet responsible for some alleged perturbations in the orbit of Uranus and Neptune and the American billionaire Lowell, astronomy enthusiast and well-known for his studies of Mars, started looking for this ninth planet as many as 14 years of life but could not locate it.
