Mud Crab Medaeus serratus Demania cultripes Crustacea Decapoda Brachyura  Xanthidae, carapace about cm 7 x 6 (legs not included), in a small box with an interior covered in black, as in photos.
Taken on coral reef, 20-25 mt deep.
Family: Xanthidae.
Common name: Mud Crabs, Pebble Crabs or Rubble Crabs.
Syn. Demania cultripes.

Many of the species are known to be toxic to humans and domestic animals, and it is thought likely that all species of Demania are toxic.
