Lamproptera meges decius one upper wing lenght cm 2-2.5 Insect Tropical Butterfly Papilionidae Swallowtail.
Common name: The Green Dragontail.


It s a small butterfly swallowtail (Papilionidae family) of South-East Asia.
It has a wingspan of 40 to 55 millimeters (1.6 to 2.2 in) and the tails of the lower wings are long from 25 to 40 millimeters (0.98 to 1.57 in). In this species, the bands are light green in color, while in other closely related species, are white.
The green dragontail is usually found in open sunny areas, usually near streams. It can also be seen in small groups. Flying at an altitude of 100 to 1,520 meters (330 to 4,990 ft), from April to October. Having the wings very small size in relation to the length of the body, has a flight like a ringing, beating rapidly forward wings and forth in a manner reminiscent of dragonflies, using their long tails as a rudder.
The males suck and expel large volumes of water from which the dissolved minerals are filtered.

L. m. akirai Tsukada & Nishiyama, 1980 southern Sulawesi
L. m. virescens (Butler, [1870]) Burma, Vietnam, Thailand, Peninsular Malaya, Haina
L. m. annamiticus (Fruhstorfer, 1909) southeastern Thailand, southern Vietnam
L. m. pallidus (Fruhstorfer, 1909) northern Vietnam
L. m. niasicus (Fruhstorfer, 1909) Nias
L. m. decius (C. & R. Felder, 1862) Philippines
L. m. pessimus Fruhstorfer, 1909 Philippines (Palawan, Balabac, Dumaran)
L. m. amplifascia Tytler, 1939 Yunnan, Burma
