Phoebis (or sulphurs butterflies) is a genus belonging to the subfamily Coliadinae of the Pieridae family (or white butterflies). They are native to the Americas.
The genus Phoebis contains 8 large species of Pieridae family, usually of a yellow color.
Phoebis trite, known as butterfly buttercup, has spread to the south Caribbean and Mexico across much of South America and southern Brazil.

Recently Phoebis trite has been renamed Rhabdodryas trite with four identified subspecies.
Synonyms of Phoebis genus: Colias, Callidryas, Metura, Parura.
