Description

resin reproduction (scientific model) of skull of Smilodon fatalis (or californicus), a huge Pleistocene cat known for long, saber-like canine teeth. Probably social and able to roar, like its smallere extant relative-the African lion. Cast from the largest, most complete specimen found in the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits. This skull's impressive fangs measure 6 1/2" long (with roots 10").
