real fossil dinosaur Gigantoraptor (erlianensis?) egg, 1,409 gr - cm 22 x 9.4 x 5.3.
The Gigantoraptor ("giant predator") was one of the largest Oviraptoridae dinosaur that lived 85 million years ago in Mongolia during the Cretaceous.
Although recent studies say that this dinosaur is a "primitive" genus of his family, is certainly the biggest of all: 8 meters per 1 ton and a half. Easily surpassed the tonnage of Citipati and Caudipteryx, another species of his area. Although its dimensions were truly unique, was, like other dinosaurs, plus an early bird, than a reptile. It had in fact a powerful beak, although to date no trace was found of its likely pens. The diet of this reptile is a mystery for now. Although many Oviraptoridae were herbivores, this dinosaur had claws and long legs to run with no known date of use. The only specimen found so far is incomplete and of a young individual, about 11 years old (thanks to the discovery of growth lines in one of his hind legs). Discovered in the Iren Dabasu Formation, was described as a sauropod momentarily. Only when the bones were cleaned up enough, you knew it was a dinosaur-like bird.
