Description

crinoids perfect, complete with cup and stem, on slab 5.8 Kg - 35 x 22 cm x 4.5 h.

The crinoids are echinoderms, which is closely related to sea urchins and sea stars, are marked by a shrine consisting of numerous calcareous plates and a complex system of locomotion (interlocking aquifer) in which many small protrusions called pedicels "bloate" and "deflate" water adhering or detaching from the substrate.
There are two kinds of crinoids: those who live anchored to the seabed (isocrinids) and those who are allowed to move freely (comatulids), although movement will be at most a few meters.
Appeared in the Ordovician, the crinoids are sessil forms that have been widespread throughout the Paleozoic, forming the limestone to crinoids or encrinites.
