Taxidermy

 Taxidermy

Don't worry ... it is neither contagious, nor a disease! As we have said for the Insects that it's possible to preserve the Invertebrates through suitable techniques of preparation, so also for the Vertebrata there's the taxidermy, better known like embalming or stuffing. Excepting mummies that we do not deal (you can turning to an egyptologist), we have Birds, Mammals, Reptiles, or other Vertebrates.
The technique of preparation is completely different from that one adopted for the Arthropods and very much laborious; it often varies also between similar animals. Taxidermy is an ancient art, therefore please don't ask us to reveal the secrets of the trade; but we can reassure you because the toxic materials used in the past century that often cause the untimely death of the poor taxidermist, today are not in use anymore, replaced by other substances. So don't be afraid unless unexpected happens, we would still to be here for a long time (...we hope so).
The animals in our catalogue are only some examples of Vertebrata that they can be prepared, and obviously don't exaust the innumerable varieties of species and postures with which the taxidermy tries to immortalize for ever the living beings. So there are the robin or the heron mounted on various pedestals, from turned traditional pedestal for collection to the small wooden board, from the artificial rock to the trunk of a tree, all embellished with moss, earth, gravel, etc. An analogous speech to the birds can be made for fish, reptiles, small or great mammals, and further preparations are those on wall shields like the classic head of deer, wild boar or big gallinacean, and diorama, like those in the museums, often of great dimensions, where the animals are mounted in a natural posture, the same that they have while were still alive in their habitats. Typical of the stuffing job are the hunting trophies with horn of Artiodactyls, tusks of wild boar, fish like pikes, etc.
A last superflous information....: all the animals of our catalogue have been regularly denounced and in order with the laws in force (you can see also the F.A.Q.).
Like for every category, our catalogues are subject to frequent revision, so you often come back to visit us if you are searching for novelties. Moreover, if you are to hunting of some speciment absent from the catalogue, or finished, you may have it for the asking: we'll do everything possible to find them!
And now...good safari!

Guide to the consultation of the catalogue

As for the others zoological catalogues also the animals of the Taxidermy Catalogue, that all belong to the phylum of Vertebrata, have been subdivided into great and small systematic categories to make easier the consultation. For example the class of the Mammalia is divided into orders (Artiodactyla, Carnivora) and into families (Bovidae, Mustelidae).
The italian common name, near the scientific name (genus-species) of the animal, corresponding to that scientific one in Latin. The NEW symbol shows, if it's present, for a brief period all the new animals of the catalogue. The following green text indicates the main systematic category; this can be divided into subcategories (orange and yellow) . For example: the fallow-deer Dama dama has included in the class "Mammalia" (green text), in particular in the order "Artiodactyla" (orange text) and precisely in the family "Cervidae" (yellow text). The articles are listed in alphabetical order.

You'll find other details after the price in Euro and Dollar: clicking on read article-card it will appear a pop-up with a bigger photo of the stuffed animal that you're examining and further informations useful to the purchase, like the sex (M = male, F = female), the age, that indicates those animals that can be available also to the juvenile period (the aspect of plumage is often quite different from that one of the adults) and the notes of preparation, that show like the animal is mounted (branch, pedestal, shield, diorama, etc.), and eventually also the year of preparation, if available. Than follows the origin, that indicates the zone where the animal lives, the availability (all the specimen are single and unique pieces), its code number, and at last the eventuality special price of the animal (give you a look at our Offers Catalogue).
For your orders, you can click on keep shopping without fear: the ultimate purchase will take place successively, after our confirmation of its real availability (anyhow we exhort you to read the terms of sale).
